This kit bundles the three pieces needed to rebuild a tired Commodore key: one uncut key, one set of buttons and one remote case. It suits the VS, VX, VY, VZ and WH generations, which covers a large share of the Commodores, Berlinas, Calais and Statesman-era cars still doing daily duty around Australia. One cosmetic note worth knowing in advance is that the cases ship with no logos on the back, so the finished key looks clean and unbranded rather than carrying factory badging. Everything electronic comes from your existing key, and because the blank arrives uncut, any local locksmith can finish the job. These generations are now firmly in budget-car territory, which makes a cheap rebuild kit far more proportionate than dealer key pricing ever was.
On these Holdens the usual failure points are physical: rubber buttons wear smooth and split, the case cracks around the key ring hole, and eventually the whole thing is held together with tape. The circuit board inside typically remains perfectly serviceable. Moving that board into a new case with fresh buttons restores the key for a fraction of the cost of a dealer replacement, and because your original electronics are retained, the car needs no reprogramming. The new blank then needs cutting by a locksmith to match your doors and ignition barrel. It is worth doing the swap before the old case fails completely, since a board that drops out of a split key in a shopping centre car park is a far more expensive problem.
If your other Commodore key has fewer buttons, the Holden Commodore 2 button key shell VS VT is the matching repair kit, and buying two cases at once is cheaper per unit with the 2 pack Holden Commodore 3 button key shell. Mixed-badge driveways are catered for as well; the Toyota 2 button key shell for RAV4 Corolla Camry Prado gives the family Toyota the same style of refresh in the same parcel. All three kits use the same transfer-the-board approach, so the skills from the first rebuild carry straight over to the next one.
The Remote Factory specialises in replacement remotes and key fobs from its Australian base, which keeps parts for older vehicles like these Commodores reliably in stock. Orders are dispatched within 24 hours, with standard delivery of 1 to 5 working days across Australia and 2 to 8 working days to New Zealand. Pay by whichever method suits: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, Shop Pay or Apple Pay are all accepted. A 30-day return policy applies if the shell is not right for your key, and contact@theremotefactory.com.au can check a photo of your current remote before you order.
You receive one uncut key, one set of replacement buttons and one remote case, suited to VS, VX, VY, VZ and WH Holden Commodores. There are no electronics in the package; the circuit board from your current key transfers into the new housing. Note the cases have no logos on the back, so the rebuilt key is unbranded.
No. Because the original circuit board is retained, the vehicle recognises the key exactly as before and no reprogramming step is required. The new uncut blade is the only part needing professional attention; a locksmith cuts it to duplicate your existing key so it operates the doors and ignition. The button set and case simply clip around the transferred board.
This particular kit lists the VS, VX, VY, VZ and WH generations. For keys with a two-button layout spanning VS through WH including the VT, the store carries a separate 2 button shell that is the better match. Compare your current key's button count and shape with the product photos, or email a picture to support for confirmation before purchasing.
Take the kit together with your existing key to a local locksmith, who will duplicate the old blade profile onto the new blank. This is a quick, inexpensive service available in most shopping centres. Once cut, transfer your circuit board into the new case, fit the fresh buttons, and the rebuilt key works in the doors and ignition straight away.
