One-button key fob housing to suit Toyota remotes

New housing, same electronics, working key again

Plenty of Toyota keys fail long before their electronics do: the plastic cracks, the button membrane splits or the blade works loose, while the chip inside keeps transmitting perfectly. This one-button housing exists for exactly that situation. You open your existing key, lift out the internal module, chip and electronics, and seat them in the fresh shell. Toyota used this single-button style across many utes, hatches and sedans of its era, which is why a visual match matters more than the badge on the boot. From there a locksmith cuts the new blade and the key is back in service without any dealer involvement. It is deliberately a housing only, which keeps the cost to a fraction of a replacement key. The same style is also listed as the Toyota car remote key fob shell 1 button if stock runs short here.

How to confirm this shell suits your key

A housing is generally the right fit when the exterior shape, internal structure and blade type all match your original. Compare your Toyota key against the listing photos carefully, and if anything looks uncertain, send through detailed pictures of your current key before ordering and we will check it for you. Note that the shell ships without any brand logos, which is normal for aftermarket housings. Crucially, do not throw away any part of your original key until the replacement is confirmed working, meaning the buttons operate and the car starts.

The transfer, step by step

The job itself is simple enough for a careful DIYer: open the old key, move the electronics across, and make sure the transponder chip comes with them, since the car will not start without it. Cutting must then be done by an automotive locksmith, who will match the new blade to your door and ignition. No transponder chips or electronics are included in this sale. If your garage door needs attention too, a companion pick such as the ECA garage gate remote control 4 button or the universal 433.92MHz garage door cloning remote can ride along in the same parcel.

Why source it from The Remote Factory

Key shells are bread and butter for The Remote Factory, an Australian operation dedicated to replacement remotes and fobs, so what arrives has been matched against the kinds of Toyota keys locksmiths see every week. Your order is dispatched inside 24 hours, with standard delivery taking one to five working days around Australia and two to eight for New Zealand customers. Payment can be made using Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, Shop Pay or Apple Pay. Should the housing not match your key once compared in hand, the 30-day return policy applies; questions go to contact@theremotefactory.com.au.

Frequently asked questions

Does this include the transponder chip or remote electronics?

No. This is a housing only, with no electronics, remote module or transponder chip included. The product is designed for keys whose plastic case has failed while the internals still work. You transfer your original module and chip into the new shell, and the transponder must come across too or the car will not start. If your electronics are also dead, a shell alone will not fix the key.

How do I know the shell will fit my Toyota key?

A housing generally suits when the exterior shape, the internal structure and the blade type are identical to your original key. Check your key against the listing images closely before buying, and if you are unsure, send detailed photos of your current key to the store and the team will confirm fitment. Keys vary across Toyota models and years, so this comparison step matters.

Can I cut the key blade myself?

No, cutting must be performed by an automotive locksmith, who has the equipment to duplicate your existing blade profile accurately. The sensible order of operations is: transfer your electronics and transponder chip into the new housing, have the locksmith cut the blade, then test that the buttons work and the car starts. Keep every part of your old key until that final test passes.

Will the new shell have a Toyota badge on it?

No, aftermarket housings like this one are supplied without logos, so the button and case mouldings match but the branding area is left blank. This is standard for replacement shells and has no effect on function. Everything else about the key feel, the single-button layout and the blade mounting is designed to mirror the original housing it replaces.
